Continuing its tradition of providing in-depth quality news and public affairs programming, Georgia Public Broadcasting will provide extensive coverage of the 2009 Georgia General Assembly on television, radio and the web.
GPB will utilize its reporting staff for the long-running television series Lawmakers, which will be broadcast over television, radio and at www.gpb.org. Lawmakers is hosted by David Zelski and Nwandi Lawson.
Each weeknight the assembly is in session, beginning Monday, January 12, GPB Television will air Lawmakers at 7 PM. The program also encores on GPB’s statewide digital channel GPB Knowledge at 7 AM weekdays. For the first time, Lawmakers will be broadcast over GPB Radio each weeknight at 8 PM. Also, Lawmakers will be available live and archived at www.gpb.org/lawmakers.
GPB will have at least five reporters at the State Capitol. Listeners can hear the reports as part of GPB Radio’s daily broadcast of Georgia Gazette with host Ricky Bevington at 6 PM (7 PM in Athens and rebroadcast each night at 11 PM) and during Morning Edition and All Things Considered.
GPB will also provide extensive coverage of Governor Perdue's State of the State Address scheduled for Wednesday, January 14 at 10 AM. GPB Knowledge will carry a live broadcast of the program. GPB Radio will also broadcast it live at 10 AM, and web users can view the live Webcast at http://www.gpb.org/lawmakers/stateofthestate.
GPB will also carry coverage of the State of the State address in a special one-hour edition of Lawmakers at 7 PM. GPB Radio will carry the audio version of the one-hour special edition of Lawmakers at 8 PM.
