Great Documentaries and Public Affairs and Lifestyle Programming

Georgia Public Broadcasting, the PBS Station serving all of Georgia, launched GPB Knowledge, an all-new digital channel, today. The new channel features quality educational content for teachers and students, great documentaries, as well as public affairs and lifestyle programming.

“Georgia Public Broadcasting is excited we are now able through our new digital broadcast capabilities to extend access to our extensive educational offerings to all citizens across the state,” said GPB Executive Director Nancy Hall. “We will continue to work closely with our various education programming partners to enrich the value of the learning experience available to all Georgians through GPB as well as expand our offerings to Georgia learners of all ages.”

Educators and learners of all ages in Georgia depend on GPB Education to provide top quality programs that meet Georgia curriculum standards and provide expanded learning options. As part of the schedule lineup, GPB Knowledge is providing programs that examine Southern regional history such as Georgia Stories and American History Through Southern Eyes and provide greater access to programming such as GED Connection, Workplace Essential Skills and Road Trip, which were previously available only through GPB Education’s satellite network or over GPB Television’s Overnight Schedule.

"GPB Knowledge is going to be a wonderful tool for our schools and our citizens," said State Superintendent of Schools Kathy Cox. "This channel will help students of all ages to get the information and education they need to be successful in the 21st century.”

In the Atlanta area, viewers can continue to enjoy GPB Television’s top quality programming on Channel 8 (analog) and 8.1 (digital/HD) and set their digital tuners to
